The Municipal Clerk is the secretary to the municipal council, secretary to the municipality, keeper of the city seal, chief election officer of the municipality and the individual responsible for the records management of the city. The office is the information center of the City routinely dealing with the public on a daily basis regarding citizen assistance, direction, or requests for copies of documents in compliance with the government Open Public Records Act (OPRA). In addition, the City Clerk also maintains the Hoboken Municipal Code and City Council Agendas.
The City Clerk’s Office maintains all documents pertinent to the administration of municipal government, provides support to the Mayor and City Council, administers elections, coordinates research and information services for the public, responsible for the records management of the city. As the secretary to the municipality, municipal council and city seal, the City Clerk office is the hub of the municipality which routinely deals with the public on a daily basis regarding the requests for copies of documents in compliance with the Open Public Records Act (OPRA).

The application must be reviewed by the Police Department – Chief’s office or a representative (Chief Steve Aguiar or Walter Wehrhahn, 201-420-2116 or 201-420-5109) or 201-420-2002). The Police Department will explain city rules and the requirements for filming and location of vehicles, equipment, and traffic regulations and will make a recommendation to the Film Commission. The Film Commission will review and approve or deny the application.
The completed application must be submitted at least 3 days (72 Hours) prior to the scheduled filming dates. The City will review it and contact the appropriate city officials to verify safety procedures. Please follow the instructions on the film permit application form.
Upon issuance of the film permit by the Clerk’s office there will be a $700.00 fee (as of 4/12/10) due and payable to the City of Hoboken.

Hudson County residents may register to vote at the Office of the Superintendent of Elections, located at 257 Cornelison Ave., 4th Floor, in Jersey City. In order to meet the needs of residents, this office will be open from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 and also the City of Hoboken will be open from 4:00 - 9:00 PM on Friday, May 10, 2024, Monday, May 13th and Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

The legislation is the latest in a series of initiatives by the Murphy Administration and the Legislature to expand access to voting rights and democracy amidst a wave of voter disenfranchisement measures across the country. If you have a disability and need an accessible ballot, please contact (201) 369-3470 Option #6 or you may go to your assigned polling place, which will provide access to an in-person accessible voting device on Election Day. Should you choose not to vote on a Mail-In Ballot and show up to one of the limited number of Polling Places on Election Day, only Provisional Paper Ballots will be available to cast your vote. The ADA compliant Voting Machine is only for voters who have a disability.
Superintendent Brzozowski would like voters, already registered in Hudson County, to be aware of the procedures regarding late address changes within county. If a voter has moved from one election district to another in the SAME town or has moved to another town in Hudson, please notify this office as soon as possible so that a Mail-In Ballot or an application can be sent to you. As per Executive Order 105, the Hudson County Clerk’s Office has provided a postage paid envelope for the return of your ballot. You are not required to attach a stamp. Early voting and voting Instructions for Upcoming Primary Election
In 2021, a historic legislation established in-person early voting in New Jersey. This law makes our state even more voter-friendly and strengthens our democracy by expanding opportunities to exercise your right to vote. This new option allows registered voters to cast their ballot in person, using a voting machine, prior to Election Day. You can now choose to vote, in person, when it’s most convenient for your schedule.
City Hall (entrance on Newark Street) will provide registered voters with this option for the 2024 Primary Election. They will designate in-person early voting locations that will be open May 29 through Sunday, June 2nd. Hours will be Friday-Saturday, 10:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. and Sunday, 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
